Driver killed in fiery crash

COLUMBIA, Ky. (WTVQ) – A person is killed in an early morning collision in Adair County.

According to Kentucky State Police, the crash happened just before 2 a.m. on Sunday morning at Ky 55 and Ky 551. They say a truck heading north struck a guardrail, and then that vehicle caught fire.

Authorities report that the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames by the time investigators arrived to the scene. State police say the the driver was the only person in the vehicle, and they found his remains once the fire was put out. That driver was unable to be identified due to injuries sustained as a result of the fire.

Authorities say an autopsy is scheduled, and they will continue an investigation.
