Driver crashes trying to avoid hitting animal; two injured

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Two women were injured, one of them critically, after swerving and crashing to avoid hitting an animal in the road outside London, according to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say Mary Napier was driving westbound on KY 1394 just after 5:00 p.m. Wednesday.  They say an animal ran in front of her car so she swerved to avoid hitting it, causing the car to run off the road, hit a fence and barn.

Investigators say Napier was airlifted to UK Hospital in Lexington with serious injuries.

Deputies say the passenger in the car, Karen Napier, had to cut out of the vehicle.  They say she was critically injured and airlifted to UK Hospital in Lexington.
