Driver charged in connection to New Circle wreck

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Police say a woman caused about a dozen accidents yesterday on New Circle Road.

That backed up traffic and made the commute a nightmare for hundreds of drivers.

All we know right now is the woman is 36-years-old and has been charged with one count of wanton endangerment.

Police say they are not releasing her name because she was not arrested and there is no warrant for her arrest.

Instead this case is being sent to a grand jury who will decide her fate.

Police say the woman is the one responsible for causing the huge traffic jam on New Circle Road during rush hour Wednesday afternoon.

Officers say the woman was driving on the outer loop of New Circle Road when she hit twelve cars between the Richmond Road exit and the Tates Creek Road exit.

The woman was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

No one else was hurt.

The woman could face additional charges after the case is presented to the grand jury.
