Drive Kentucky Summer Lifesaver blood drive enters final days

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The PODS® moving and storage company will be hosting the last days of Kentucky Blood Center’s Drive Kentucky Summer Lifesaver blood drive this week.

The drive ends on Wednesday.  Participants will receive a T-shirt for their donation and will be entered for a chance to win a Toyota Tacoma 4X4 and 2 tickets to “Red, White, and Boom.”

Donors will also receive a free mini-physical before donating, and their cholesterol results will be posted online on the KBC website donor portal three days later.

“The need for blood donations in our community is so great right now.  All the donations KBC collects, stays in Kentucky, and goes to hellp save the lives of our neighbors and friends, expressed Ken Kocon, general Manager of PODS of Lexington.  “You never know when you or a loved one will need the gift of blood, which is why our goal is set so high this year, but I’m confident that the people of Lexington will give generously, and we will beat that goal.”

Over the last year, KBC distributed nearly 130,000 blood components, relying on volunteer blood donors to meet patients’ needs in the area.
