Don’t fall for it: scammer claims to be with Richmond Police Dept.
RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) – Richmond Police are warning people about a scam involving the department.
Officers say someone is calling people and telling them they are from the Richmond Police Department and they are collecting money for a missed court date.
The caller threatens to have the person arrested if they don’t go to a “mobile warrant” website and make a payment.
Richmond Police say they don’t collect payment for any legal fees or fines, they don’t have a mobile warrant website and they usually don’t call before showing up to arrest someone.
