Donatos employee forced to open safe at knifepoint
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington Police are looking for a man they say robbed a Donatos worker at knifepoint on Thursday night.
Investigators say the man walked into the business on West New Circle Road through the back door just before 10:30 p.m.
Police say there was only one employee and no customers in the business at the time of the armed robbery. They say the robber forced the worker to open the store safe, took cash and left. The worker wasn’t injured.
Police say they immediately set up a perimeter in the area and brought in a K-9. They say the dog initially had a scent, but lost it in the parking lot. Investigators say that leads them to believe the robber got into a car and took off.
Police say they believe the knife the robber used may have been a kitchen knife.
