Dog owner arrested after deadly attack on Marshall County man

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- The owner of three pit bulls has been arrested in connection to the death of a Marshall County man killed in a dog attack.

State Police say Wednesday, troopers brought 29-year-old Daniel Alexander from Gilbertsville to the Marshall County Jail.

Alexander was one of the owners of three pit bulls quarantined by Marshall County Animal Control after they reportedly attacked and killed Brian Butler at the end of June.

Troopers say Alexander tampered with evidence at the scene on June 29, 2019 and knew Butler’s body was on McCoy Lane, but didn’t call police.

Alexander is charged with Tampering With Physical Evidence (Class D Felony), as well as Duty of Person, Hospital, or Institution to Report Death of Person (Class B Misdemeanor).

Troopers say they’re confident Alexander’s pit bulls were the only dogs involved in the attack, but they still urge people in Gilbertsville to be cautious if they see any dogs roaming.
