DeWeese won’t run for Republican caucus chairman

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Rep. Bob DeWeese won’t be in the running next year for House Republican caucus chairman.

DeWeese sent a letter on Wednesday to minority floor leader Jeff Hoover that says he has decided not to seek re-election to the post. He said the decision came after discussions with his family, thought and prayer.

DeWeese has held the position for 14 years, and said he will assist the next person in the post. Elections for House leadership positions will be held at the beginning of the legislative session in January.
