Deputy Jaime Morales gets new Mustang
WOODFORD COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- Scott County Sheriff’s Deputy Jaime Morales received a special surprise, a car with particular meaning.
Morales’ dad found him the same version of the car he loves so much but in an automatic transmission version he’ll be able to drive.
Morales became paralyzed in September when he was shot at while trying to capture a fugitive.
Morales is home from the hospital and trying to return to as normal a life as he can.
Part of his normal routine before the shooting was driving his 2016 California edition 5-speed gt special Mustang.
Jamie’s dad, Larry Stroh, knew Jamie wouldn’t be able to drive a 5-speed again so he started trying to find the same car in a version Jamie would be able to drive.
He finally found the perfect car at a Michigan dealership!
He needed help getting it to Kentucky, though.
Jack Kain Ford in Versailles had sent Jamie’s family a gift card after he was hurt.
Stroh asked if the dealership could help move the car.
Jack Kain Ford pulled through and along with Stroh presented the car to Morales Saturday.
“I want him to be driving his car. You know, I want him to continue. Adjust and continue. So he said to me when he saw this, he says dad you got it, you found it and he says I’m one step closer to getting back to normal,” said Stroh.
The car will be fitted with hand controls so Morales will be able to drive it.
