Deputies warn people of man posing as cop in Shelby Co.

SHELBY COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- The Shelby County Sheriff’s deputies wants to warn people of a man who they say is posing as a cop, stopping people, demanding personal items and speeding away.

Deputies say a woman was stopped on Freedoms Way around 3:30 p.m. by a man driving a blue Crown Victoria with blue lights on the grill. The man was described as 5’8″. short hair shaved on the side, muscular build, wearing a blue colored uniform and duty belt.

The woman told deputies that the man demanded the woman’s purse and phone before driving off.

The woman was driving a silver KIA Forte and was stopped on the right side of the northbound lane on Freedoms Way.

If you get pulled over by an unmarked car and are concerned about the authenticity of the officer, pull into a safe populated location like a gas station or call 911.
