Defendant Pleads Guilty to Manslaughter In Lexington Stabbing Death
Gerardo Turcios-Rodriquez was accused of killing Douglas Saylor, after someone found Saylor stabbed in the kitchen of his home on Elsmere Park on June 2nd, 2012.
But before the trial began, Turcios-Rodriquez pleaded guilty to manslaughter. The Lexington Herald-Leader says Turcios-Rodriquez told the court, through an interpreter, that he was drunk at the time and didn’t remember much. He says Saylor invited him to his home, starting "touching" him, and he pushed Saylor away. He says he took a knife away from Saylor, but remembers nothing else until he arrived back at his own home.
The prosecution is recommending a 16-year sentence. Sentencing is set for January 24th.
