Overruled motion in case of 4 men charged with killing woman and unborn baby
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- A Fayette County Circuit Judge overruled a motion that would exclude the death penalty for four men accused of killing a woman and her unborn baby in 2016.
Lawyers for 21-year-old Saquan Freeman, 22-year-old Demetrioun Boaz, 21-year-old Joseph Fain, and 23-year-old Sylar Stigall wanted to have the death penalty excluded, according to Fayette County Circuit Court.
The four men were charged with murder, fetal homicide, and robbery for the shooting death of 22-year-old Maryiah Coleman. She was pregnant with her son who also died.
Coleman was killed while walking her dog outside the Matador North Apartment Complex on Winburn Drive. She was not the intended victim.
