UPDATE: Two arrested, victim identified in Knox County stabbing death

Update at 10:31 p.m. on July 30, 2021:

WOODBINE, Ky. (WTVQ) – Two people were arrested and charged with murder on Friday in connection to the stabbing death of a Woodbine man, according to Kentucky State Police.

Investigators say 36-year-old Matthew Welsh was found dead after being stabbed during a fight at his home involving 33-year-old Joseph Masters and 37-year-old Charles “CJ” McVey, both of Woodbine. KSP did not release any details about the fight.

Troopers said Masters was found and arrested in Campbell County, Tenn. State Police say Masters was in jail in Campbell County waiting to be brought back to Kentucky to face charges of murder, first-degree unlawful imprisonment and kidnapping (adult).

State police say McVey was found by Corbin Police and arrested. He is charged with murder, first-degree unlawful imprisonment and kidnapping (adult). He was taken to the Knox County Detention Center.

KSP Detective Kevin Howard is leading the investigation.

WOODBINE, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police (KSP) is investigating a death in Knox County.

According to a release sent by KSP, Post 10 in Harlan received a call from the Knox County Sheriff’s Department around 8:18 a.m. on July 10 requesting their help on Hedden Flats Road.

KSP Troopers and Detectives from Post 10 went to the scene and started the death investigation. No arrests have been made at this time.

Det. Kevin Howard is working the investigation.
