UPDATE: Coroner identifies victim in deadly Iron Works Pike crash

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Fayette Co. Coroner has identified the victim in a fatal crash on Iron Works Pike Wednesday afternoon.

The coroner says the victim is 44-year-old William Arthur Stone, Jr.  According to the coroner’s report, at about 5:30 p.m. on August 31, Stone’s vehicle went off the right side of the road and hit a rock wall.

He was taken to the UK Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of a car died from injuries suffered in a single vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon on Iron Works Pike near I-75 in Fayette County, according to investigators. The crash happened around 5:30 p.m.

Investigators say the driver, whose name wasn’t released, lost control and crashed into a rock embankment.

The Lexington Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) was called in to investigate the deadly accident.

Investigators say they’re looking into whether the driver may have suffered some kind of medical emergency behind the wheel leading up to the crash.
