Deadly accident in front of fire house in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – There was a deadly accident in front of a fire house in Lexington late Tuesday night, according to authorities.

The crash involved two vehicles at the corner of East Maxwell Street and Woodland Avenue. It happened around midnight, according to the Lexington Fire Department.

Investigators tell ABC 36 — an F150 truck heading East on Maxwell Street passed a red light then hit a blue sedan that was heading South on Woodland Avenue.

The driver of the truck hit a light pole in front of Firehouse #5 and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials say the blue sedan crashed into the side of firehouse on Maxwell Street. The passengers in that car refused medical treatment and are believed to be okay, according to investigators.

ABC 36 was told a Lexington Police officer was at the red light on Maxwell Street and witnessed the collision.

No other injuries were reported.

The identity of the deceased driver will be made public when the family is notified.
