Deadline approaches for April’s FEMA assistance

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — Kentucky survivors of the recent severe storms have until June 30 to register for federal disaster assistance related to this year’s April 2 – April 7 severe weather.

Severe weather is defined as “Severe storms, tornadoes, flooding, landslides, and mudslides.”, says FEMA’s Media Relations Specialist Jim Homstad, and individuals or business owners who suffered from losses due to inclement weather that week in April should register for assistance as soon as possible.

According to FEMA, they have approved over $2.1 million in grants for housing assistance, to assist with home repair or renting. 1,458 inspections to assess damage have been requested, authorities say, and 97% have been completed at this point.
