Days after boys rescued, man falls to death at Red River Gorge

WOLFE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- Rescuers in Wolfe County say only days after two boys were rescued from Red River Gorge after going missing, a man has died in a fall.

It happened late Saturday night, according to Wolfe County Search and Rescue. That’s when they say they were called to Chimney Top Rock for a report of a hiker that had fallen from the overlook after crossing the rail. Rescuers say a nurse, camping below Chimney Top Rock, was able to confirm a fatality before crews got to the scene.

The victim has been identified as 30-year-old Michael Hacker of Goshen, Ohio, according to Wolfe County Deputy Coroner Gary Sparks. ABC 36’s Amber Krycka is in Wolfe County and will have reports this afternoon at 6:30, then at 11 p.m. as well.
