Davis receives ‘Cost of Discipleship’ Award

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WTVQ) – Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis received the ‘Cost of Discipleship Award’ from the Family Research Council (FRC) at the Values Voter Summit in Washington, D.C. on Friday for her refusal to sign marriage certificates for same-sex couples.

During her acceptance speech, Davis thanked God for the award. “I have discovered through all of this that His grace is truly sufficient in all things. I am only one, but we are many,” Davis said.

The annual summit honors those who have been targeted for their religious beliefs. The FRC says the event was created “to inform and mobilize” conservatives to preserve the “bedrock values” of faith, family and freedom. The FRC says those values include the sanctity of life, religious liberty, traditional marriage and limited government.

A number of Republican presidential candidates, including Donald Trump, spoke at the event.
