David Holmes Named Lexington’s Environmental Quality And Public Works Commissioner

Former city law commissioner David Holmes was named Commissioner of the Department of Environmental Quality and Public Works in Lexington on Thursday.

The Urban County Council approved Holmes’ appointment Thursday evening.

He will begin work in June.

Holmes returned to Lexington from Cincinnati where he was assistant city manager.

Holmes is a veteran and an attorney.

He graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law and worked in Lexington in private practice, as an assistant county attorney and as a city attorney.

The department that Holmes will head-up provides basic services, like garbage pick-up, recycling and sanitary sewers.
