Danville utility issues boil water advisory

DANVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – The city of Danville has issued a boil water advisory for Roy Arnold, Bate and Fern streets as of 10:20 a.m. Thursday.

It impacts about 50 customers.

Although no contamination has been found, the utility recommends customers bring all water to a rolling boil, let it boil for three minutes, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice.

Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water.

People with severely compromised immune systems, infants, and some elderly may be at increased risk. These people should seek advice from their health care providers about drinking water, the utility advised.

According to the city, a six-inch cast iron water line needed to be turned off in order to be tied into a 12-inch cast iron water line that also had to be turned off. Once connected, both lines will be turned back on.
