DANVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ)- A Danville road is now open after a crash involving a Danville police officer.
East Lexington Ave. was blocked from Kentucky Ave. to Dogwood Drove for reconstruction crews.
According to police, the crash happened on East Lexington Avenue around 5:25 PM Sunday.
An officer on patrol was traveling east bound on the road, when another vehicle coming from the opposite direction veered into the officer’s lane.
Witnesses say this vehicle was traveling at an excessive speed.
Police say the officer swerved to avoid a head on collision and was sent spinning after being hit on the driver’s side.
The other car eventually came to a stop in someone’s yard against some trees.
Both drivers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
It is believed the driver of the speeding vehicle had a medical issue and no charges are expected.
