Danville Police investigate Sunday morning shootings

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Danville Police Department is investigating two overnight shootings.

Police say around 2:50 Sunday morning, officers received a shots fired call at a private club on Dillehay Street.

Upon arrival they found evidence of a shooting, but no victim.

Then just after 3 a.m., officers were called to a home on Mason Avenue for a 37-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers believe the man was shot in his car in a parking lot on Dillehay Street.

Then just after 3:45 a.m., officers responded to another shots fired call on North 5th Street.

Police found a pickup truck that had crashed into a yard. Police say the 43-year-old driver was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The man was taken to the hospital where he later died.

A preliminary investigation determined the victim was driving down North 5th Street when he was shot by multiple people standing on the side of the road.

Officers believe the victim was trying to flee in reverse and then crashed into the yard.

At this time, the name of the victim has not been released.

Danville Police and the Boyle county sheriff’s office do not have any suspect information.
