‘DanceBlue’ raises more than $1.6 million for cancer research

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- ‘DanceBlue’ made a major impact in the fight against cancer this weekend at UK, raising more than $1.6 million for research.

The event is the university’s largest fundraiser each year, drawing upwards of 1,000 students to stay up for 24-hours, dancing. Through doing so, students are raising money that benefits pediatric cancer research. Specifically, the money goes to the Golden Matrix Fund and Kentucky Children’s Hospital Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Clinic.

The event started in 2006 and since has raised nearly $10 million for cancer research.
