Cyclists’ “Journey for Hope” Across America

On Tuesday, college cyclists trekking across the nation took a brief rest in Lexington before continuing to their destination in Washington DC.

Their mission: to raise awareness of Push America’s Journey of Hope, a cross-country bicycling event that raises funds for those with disabilities.

Their adventure started in Seattle, Washington and is one of three routes that will merge at the nation’s capitol on August 2. The other two began in San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Together, the groups cover 32 different states, cycling a combination of over 12,000 miles over the course of 71 days.

The Journey of Hope consists solely of Pi Kappa Phi members and is touted as the largest fraternal fundraising and awareness of its kind, raising over $500,000 per year.
