Cumberland man who escaped custody, arrested

PULASKI, Ky. (WTVQ) — An anonymous tip led to the arrest of the Cumberland man who escaped custody on May 15, according to police.

Cumberland Sherriff’s Office says Deputy Travis Thomson acted on a tip, locating Billy Joe Boggs at a residence on Highway 194 in Nancy, Kentucky.

Boggs had escaped from a police cruiser, taking with him evidence from the front seat of the cruiser, officials say, as well as the officer’s flashlight and cell phone. A warrant was issued for his arrest, charging him with 2nd Degree Escape, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Theft by Unlawful Taking.

Boggs was taken into custody without incident, says the Sherriff’s Office, and lodged in the Pulaski Detention Center.
