Crash in Lexington kills Indiana man

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police say a driver died following an early-morning accident in Lexington.

Police say the driver appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed on Man ‘o War Boulevard near Saron Drive at around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, when he crossed over into the opposite lane and went off the road.

They say his car went over an embankment and he became trapped.

Firefighters had to extricate him from the car.

Police say it took a while to get him out.

He was taken to the University of Kentucky hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The coroner has identified him as 60-year-old William Edwards of Bowling Green, Indiana.

There was no one else in the car with him, according to police.
