Crab Orchard Man Charged With Attempted Murder

State Police said Danny Brummett, of Crab Orchard, was arrested on Friday and charged with Attempted Murder, Possession of a Handgun by Convicted Felon, Assault 1st Degree, Receiving Stolen Property U/$10,000, and Violation of a Kentucky EPO/DVO.

State Police said the investigation began on May 9, 2013 when Danny Brummett tried to shoot his wife Kay Brummett during an altercation on Simpson Road in Crab Orchard.

Investigators said the gunshot missed Kay Brummett and hit the couple’s granddaughter Monique Brummett, 18, of Crab Orchard, in the upper leg.

State Police said following the altercation, Danny Brummett was found with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Investigators said Brummett is currently lodged in the Lincoln County Detention Center.

The case remains under investigation.
