Country star Walker Hayes to perform at Bluegrass Rockin’ Rodeo
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Kentucky Horse Park is thrilled to announce that popular country artist Walker Hayes will perform on the second night of its Bluegrass Rockin’ Rodeo in the Alltech Arena Saturday, Nov. 18.
“The Kentucky Horse Park is lucky to have such an accomplished artist as Walker Hayes to grace the stage during our inaugural Bluegrass Rockin’ Rodeo,” said Laura Prewitt, Executive Director of the Kentucky Horse Park. “This will be a great event and with ticket prices at just $20 we’re confident he’ll draw a huge crowd. It will be the perfect finale to a fantastic weekend of exciting rodeo competitions, great food and drinks.”
Hayes, a father of six and a native of Mobile, Alabama, embodies a true rags-to-riches story. After parting ways with his former record label, Hayes took a job working the graveyard shift at a big box wholesale warehouse to make ends meet for his family while he continued to chase his country music dreams.
Hayes is now one of the flagship artists for Monument Records. His debut single, “You Broke Up With Me,” is on Billboard’s Top 20 Country Music Songs chart. It also has more than 6.1 million views on YouTube and 22.4 million plays on Spotify.
Hayes is currently the opening artist for fellow country singer-songwriter Thomas Rhett’s Home Team Tour, which kicked off this fall. In February, he will join Kelsea Ballerini’s Unapologetically Tour.
The Kentucky Horse Park’s inaugural Bluegrass Rockin’ Rodeo will also feature emerging country artist Walker Montgomery on Friday, Nov. 17. Hayes will close out the two-day event with a performance on Saturday, Nov. 18. Gates open both nights at 5 p.m. Rodeo competition starts at 7:30 p.m. with concerts immediately afterwards.
The Bluegrass Rockin’ Rodeo is part of the International Pro Rodeo Association and serves as the IPRA National All-Region Finals. Guests will cheer on 90 of the best cowboys and cowgirls in the country as they compete in bareback and saddle broncs, calf roping, steer wrestling, barrel racing, team roping, cowgirl breakaway roping and bull riding.
Guests will also be able to savor Kentucky Proud food, craft beer and bourbon.
Tickets for the Bluegrass Rockin’ Rodeo are $20 each day or $30 for both days. Tickets may be purchased at the gate and online at www.kyhorsepark.com.
