Corbin man accused of murdering his wife

CORBIN, Ky. (WTVQ) – What was first reported as a woman’s apparent suicide, ended up being a murder with the victim’s husband arrested and charged, according to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say 38-year old Joshua Tate Davenport, of Corbin, shot his wife several times Wednesday afternoon at a home off North Florence Street, ten miles south of London.

Investigators say 38-year old Stephanie Steenburgin Davenport was found shot to death behind the home.

Deputies say Joshua Davenport shot his wife following a domestic argument.  They say a .38 caliber Rossi pistol was recovered at the shooting scene.

Joshua Davenport was charged with murder-domestic violence and lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center, according to deputies.

An autopsy is scheduled Thursday at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort.
