Cooler air to kick off Mother’s Day weekend

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Good Friday everyone, we are finally seeing calmer conditions across Kentucky after a super active pattern from this week. But cooler temperatures and some scattered showers will be around today and tomorrow before MUCH better weather rolls in for Mothers Day Sunday! Let’s begin with today and roll forward. Afternoon highs today will be in the mid to upper 60s under a mix of sun and clouds. There is the threat for a few scattered showers but most stay dry.
Saturday will see a little bit better coverage of scattered showers and thunderstorms but still nothing widespread with highs in the upper 60s to near 70.
Mothers Day will start on a very chilly note down into the mid to upper 40s with clear skies.
By the afternoon temperatures make a big recovery into the upper 60s to low 70s under mostly sunny skies.

Monday will kick off another active stretch of weather with scattered thunderstorms and highs in the mid to upper 70s.
Thunderstorms will become more widespread into Tuesday with a heavy rain and strong thunderstorm threat.
Scattered thunderstorms will continue into mid to late week next week with highs in the 70s, but no day is a washout. Just our average spring pattern with a daily thunderstorm threat. At least temperatures will be staying near average to just above.
