Cool, dry conditions start off the work week

A big cool down starts today

Following this past weekend’s cold front, Monday’s temperatures are around 10-15 degrees cooler than they were on Sunday. High pressure to our NW will keep these cool, fall-like conditions in the bluegrass for the next several days. This means starting in the upper 40s to lower 50s each morning, possibly breaking some record lows, and only reaching the mid to upper 70s by the afternoon. Winds will get a tad gusty, near 20 mph, ushering in more cool, dry air.

How to best prepare for fall conditions

It may be time to break out the sweatshirts and light jackets, especially for these next few mornings. Another thing to keep in mind is the dewpoints. We’ll be feeling dry, and if you are sensitive to drier air, this can cause your skin and your sinuses to dry out! Extra lotion and some saline spray can help out with that. Late summer to early fall is also when we see ragweed allergens peaking, so a daily allergy medication will also have you feeling better.

Warm again by the weekend

By Friday, temperatures look to reach the 80s again, and we’re closer to average. This will come just in time for UK football on Saturday, where we’re currently looking at perfect game-day conditions. On Sunday, we may see temperatures creep back up into the mid-80s, which is great news for anyone looking to get in some swimming during the Labor Day weekend before many pools close.
