Convicted felon gets 10-years for carrying a gun

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A convicted felon was sentenced to 10-years in federal prison Tuesday for illegally carrying a gun, according to prosecutors.

36-year old Antoine Lamar Burns, of Lexington, admitted he had a gun in 2015 after being convicted of a felony, according to prosecutors.

According to the plea agreement, Burns fired several shots at someone he suspected was cooperating with law enforcement, threatened and pointed the gun at a former girlfriend, tried to have his girlfriend make a false statement about ownership of the gun, and tried to hide the gun in his girlfriend’s vehicle.

Burns pleaded guilty in February.  Under federal law, he must serve 85-percent of his prison sentence; and upon his release, he’ll be under the supervision of the U.S. Probation Office for three years.
