Congressman Andy Barr participates in early voting

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Congressman Andy Barr participated in early voting at the Tates Creek branch of the Lexington Public Library on Saturday.

The congressman says he will be in Washington D.C. representing the sixth district during the primary election, so he wanted to come out and do his civic duty.

Congressman Barr encourages people to get out and vote for the primary election, whether through early voting or on election day.

“You know it’s important for all of us to vote,” said Barr. “Whether you do it on election day itself or now we have a good system in place where people who maybe are working on Tuesday, maybe it’s inconvenient for them, childcare or other things. This gives all Americans, all Kentuckians, the ability to cast their vote, exercise their civic duty, participate in their democracy and do it in a convenient way.”

Congressman Barr says he thinks the election in 2024 is critically important and that Americans are going to want to make a big change in November.

Primary election day will be on Tuesday, May 21st.
