Compassionate caravan helps people in the heat

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The hot temperatures can be dangerous especially for people who don’t have easy access to water or an escape from the heat.

Starting this weekend, Compassionate Caravan will be delivering water and sunscreen every Saturday and Sunday during the summer.

“We have a responsibility to help,” said Larry Casc, volunteer.

Larry Casc is volunteering for the first time.

He says there was times in his life when he struggled and needed someone to lend him a helping hand.

Now, he has the ability to do that for others and he’s taking every opportunity help.

“I’m just looking forward to being a blessing to someone today that needs a drink of water, or needs sunscreen, or needs a word of encouragement,” said Casc.

Last year, Compassionate Caravan gave away over 10,500 bottles of water, 3,200 sun screens, and 5,000 snacks.

To make it through the entire summer, the Catholic Action Center is asking for water and sunscreen donations.

If you have any donations, you can drop it off at the Catholic Action Center.
