Commuting Challenging For Drivers Despite Road Treatment

Commuting is proving to be a major challenge for drivers despite road treatment and the best efforts of road crews. State road crews reported to work at midnight along with Lexington Streets and Road crews. They are working in 12-hour shifts throughout the storm, plowing and treating roads. The city says it has plenty of salt on hand. However, they say the salt solution is not as effective in bitter cold temperatures and roads could be very slick.

Luke Martin lives and drives in Lexington and says he takes the winter storm advisory very seriously. " A lot of people in this area are not used to driving in these types of conditions," said Martin. "With this much traffic a city has, there will probably be a lot of wrecks and stuff."

It’s recommended that you allow yourself enough time for your commute and avoid any extra travel.
