Community rallies around Lexington Rescue Mission
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Lexington Rescue Mission, which is in the business of helping others, needs help itself.
The Mission is being forced to temporarily close to replace a broken sewer pipe, something it already had to do at the beginning of the year when another pipe broke.
When the most recent pipe broke, it flooded the Outreach Center. The plumber will start installing a new pipe on Wednesday and plans to finish over the weekend.
The repair is expected to cost nearly $12,000. The Mission says community donations will cover the entire cost.
The work will make it impossible for the Mission to serve a hot lunch but it will provide to-go sack meals and hot coffee for those in need.
The Mission hopes to replace the damaged floor during the repair so it won’t have to close again.
