LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A young boy, tragically caught in the crosshairs of a shooting in Lexington over the weekend continues struggling for survival while police are still searching for who pulled the trigger.

A composite sketch of the suspect was released on Sunday. Lexington Police say tips have been coming in but officers still have not made an arrest.

Lexington police say the nine-year-old boy is still in critical condition. Family friends say they’re hoping for the best but even after surgery, they say the little boy is still fighting for his life.

Police say surveillance video shows the alleged shooter driving a an older model, white, Nissan Maxima with dark tinted windows.

Police say just before six o’clock on Saturday evening the man shot out of the car and into a SUV the boy, his parents and two other kids were in.

A source tells ABC 36 there was a confrontation between the boy’s mom and the reported shooter earlier in the day. We’re told the shooter may have been aiming at the mom but missed and instead hi the little boy in the backseat.

Family friends say the little boy is normally full of life and energy and that he always has on a smile.

Justin Hagan, a family friend, is now begging the community to help stop this violence.

“We hope that people find it in their hearts to help him and his family and also help the community,” said Hagan. “Let’s try to find this person.”

Hagan also set up a gofundme page to help the family with medical bills.

No arrest has been made.
