Community Mourns Loss of Stanford Mayor-Elect

A somber day in Stanford as the community mourns the sudden loss of its mayor-elect.

The coroner said T.J. Hill, 55, died Thursday afternoon of a heart attack.  Stanford Police said he was found dead in his home.

Hill was supposed to take office January 1, 2015.

“A lot of people are there for your when you’re on top but when things aren’t going well, T.J. was your friend in all seasons,” said David Gambrel, who had been best friends with Hill since high school.  “So my focus today is to try and honor him and make sure we pay his legacy.”
 
The current mayor will finish his term which goes through the end of the calendar year then the city council will name a replacement mayor.
 
A public visitation for Hill will be held Tuesday, November 25 from 4:30-9:00 pm in the Lincoln County High School Stuart Underwood Auditorium.

A second visitation will be held Wednesday, November 26 from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm in the auditorium followed by the funeral.

Hill will be buried at the Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford.
