Comfortable air settles in to close out the week

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Happy Thursday! Rain showers are exiting southern Kentucky and comfortable air is pushing in from the north. This will lead to a seasonably cooler day across the region for your Thursday. Afternoon highs will struggle to reach the low 80s for most areas. The only question today is how quickly we see the clouds clear. The quicker the clouds clear out, the warmer it could get this afternoon. Mid-80s will be possible for some folks if there’s enough sunshine. Most locations will stay in the upper 70s and low 80s though, especially if the cloud cover lingers.
A fantastic overnight is on the way. Overnight lows will fall into the upper 50s and low 60s for all of the region. Some valleys could even see temperatures fall into the mid-50s. Friday morning will be a front porch coffee kind of morning, with pleasant conditions expect for everyone. This sets the stage for our “Go Day” of the week. Friday will be another pleasant day, with low humidity and afternoon highs reaching the low-to-mid 80s. There will be some upper level cloud cover increasing out of the south, but mostly sunny skies should be expected.
The weekend will feature some rain chances, particularly south and east of Lexington into the mountains. We expect most of the Bluegrass region to remain dry with temperatures near average into the mid-to-upper 80s. However, rain chances start to ramp up into next week.
The setup for next week is finally favorable for some much needed rain. With a ridge of high pressure building off the southeast US coast and a dip in the jet stream to our west, that will provide an increased stream of moisture from the Gulf of Mexico which will likely lead to more rain chances… Finally! We will need to watch out though, this could be lead to heavy rain chances, particularly later in the week.
