Cold weather possible cause of two Lexington deaths

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – When temperatures drop as dangerously low as they have been, officials advise people to stay indoors. That’s because frigid cold weather could be fatal, and these recent extreme temperatures may be the cause in two recent deaths.

Lexington Police say a body was found Tuesday on West Loudon. The Fayette County Coroner identified the body as 56-year-old James Clifton. He was found in a deserted mobile home with no heat.

Police say another body was found on Unity Drive on Sunday.  The coroner says the body is 24-year-old Madalyn Suchor. He says she was found outside her apartment. She was a University of Kentucky graduate and a nurse at UK Hospital.

The coroner is investigating whether the cold weather combined with alcohol might have contributed to both deaths.

Suchor was a member of the UK chapter of the Delta Gamma sorority. The sorority announced on its Facebook page that it is holding a candlelight vigil for Suchor Wednesday night on campus.
