Cold Thursday ahead of weekend rain chances

Meteorologist Dillon Gaudet has the latest in your full ABC 36 Storm Team forecast

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Happy Thursday! It’s a cold start to the day out there across central and eastern Kentucky. You can expect these colder conditions to last through the day. Afternoon highs will be in the low 30s across northern Kentucky, while southern Kentucky will reach the low 40s. Skies will remain mostly sunny throughout the day with a few more clouds across the northern part of the region.

Overnight temperatures will be chilly heading into Friday morning. This leads to a seasonably cool day on Friday, with afternoon highs into the low-to-mid 40s. There will be more cloud cover on Friday than originally anticipated which is the reason why we have knocked temperatures back a few degrees. Temperatures return to the 50s by the weekend but the seasonably mild air will be followed by rain chances.

Rain returns Saturday night and will linger into the day on Sunday. Saturday during the day looks dry and pleasant, with the rain returning at night. This kicks off an active weather pattern that will last through next week. The next system will move through Monday evening into Tuesday and bring another chance of rain. Colder air moves in behind this but it does look like this will stay all rain. Eyes will be on one more system by the end of next week and into the weekend.

Stay with the ABC 36 Storm Team for more updates.
