Cold front to bring showers and storm chances Monday
One final day of the warm conditions as a cold front brings big changes to the forecast
After three straight days of 80° temperatures, one final warm day is on the way. A cold front will push through the region during the afternoon and evening hours, cooling us down for the rest of the week. A line of showers and storms will along the cold front, a few of which could be severe.
A Level 1 Severe Risk is in place for a large portion of the ABC 36 viewing area. Damaging wind gusts and large hail will be possible during the afternoon and early evening. The severe risk is low, but a few strong-to-severe storms will be possible.
Ahead of the cold front temperatures will once again push the upper 70s and low 80s. Southeast Kentucky has the best chance to reach the low 80s, as there will be a bit more sunshine in these areas. As the front passes, temperatures will fall into the mid 40s by Tuesday morning. Afternoon highs on Tuesday will be nearly 10-15 degrees below average, only reaching the upper 50s and low 60s. These cooler temperatures will continue for much of the week before we warm up near average by next weekend.
