Cold but dry weather to kick off the work week
Chilly, dry, and breezy start to the week
Monday begins very cold, with feels like temperatures in the teens. By the afternoon, temperatures will be near average in the mid 40s. A breezy southwestern wind will add a chill to the air. Be sure to wear layers.
Winds stay breezy heading into Tuesday. By the afternoon, gusts up to 30-35 mph will be possible. This will bring our warmest temperatures of the week, reaching the mid 50s.
Both Monday and Tuesday will be mostly sunny.
Winter weather on the horizon
Tuesday night will see an increase in cloud cover ahead of a cold front. As this front moves across the commonwealth, widespread rain will spread. We’ll see this rain starting early Wednesday morning, lasting through the afternoon.
Cold temperatures lag behind the cold front, so we’ll stay in the low 40s through the early afternoon. By the evening, temperatures will begin to drop. As they drop below freezing, rain will quickly transition to snow. Scattered snow showers last through the overnight and into Thursday morning. Snow could be heavy at times.
We’re looking at a few possible impacts for the Wednesday evening commute, and it’s likely we see minor impacts to the Thursday morning commute as well.
Snowfall will accumulate overnight, with many of us seeing 0.5″ – 1.0″.
Cold and calm to end the work week
Temperatures on Thursday will struggle to make it out of the 20s as arctic air settles over the region.
Friday morning will likely begin cold in the teens and will only warm to the 30s by the afternoon.
Winter-like temperatures last into the weekend
Watching for more winter weather
Next weekend, we’ll be monitoring the chance for another wintry system to move through.
As of now, forecast trends show another round of snowfall through the day Saturday.
It is too early as of now to know the exact details on timing, location, and amounts. Changes will likely occur to the forecast before we reach the weekend. Just keep in mind that there is the possibility of some active weekend weather.
