Coaches, teachers sought for inaugural First Tee character-building camps

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – First Tee – Greater Lexington, a youth development organization dedicated to helping young people build character through the game of golf, needs teachers or coaches to deliver programs to young people in our community.

Instructors will receive a half-day professional development training and must be background checked, however do not need to have previous golf experience.

Camps will take place in the Spring, Summer, and Fall of 2021 and coaches must be 21 years of age.  Coaches are needed for Fayette, Bourbon, Clark, Jessamine, Madison, Scott, and Woodford counties.

First Tee – Greater Lexington offers an opportunity to earn extra pay for weekday and weekend instructions during its camps and after school programs. First Tee will provide national curriculum and certification to each coach.

Interested coaches are invited to attend one of the following two training sessions:

  • March 5, 2021 from 1:00pm – 6:00pm
  • March 6, 2021 from 10:00am – 3:00pm

First Tee – Greater Lexington, which was established in 2020, joined a network of 150 chapters across the United States and select international locations (Australia, Canada, Japan, Korea, Mexico, and Morocco) that have collectively impacted more than 15 million youth since its inception in 1997.

First Tee chapters reach more than 136,000 young people annually at more than 1,200 program locations, with support from 25,000 volunteers. Additionally, First Tee has been introduced to more than 10,000 schools and youth centers reaching millions of additional kids through these programs.
