Clay County man found guilty of murder, fetal homicide

MANCHESTER, Ky. (WTVQ) – A jury has convicted a Clay County man for the murder of his pregnant girlfriend.

According to the Clay County Circuit Court, Samuel Cornett was found guilty of murder, fetal homicide, wanton endangerment and burglary on Tuesday.

Alisha Tye was shot and killed in April 2016.

Investigators say Tye ran from her home to a neighbor’s home to get away from Cornett.

Cornett went to the home, forced his way inside and fired several shots at Tye.

She died at the hospital.

Cornett will be sentenced on November 5.
