Clay County man charged with child sexual abuse

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch has charged a 31-year-old Clay County man with child sexual abuse.

According to the KSP, Austin Reece was arrested as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) investigation. The KSP Electronic Crime Branch began the investigation after discovering the suspect communicating with a juvenile online, troopers said in a statement.

The investigation resulted in an arrest warrant being served on May 27, 2021. Equipment used to facilitate the crime was seized and taken to KSP’s forensic laboratory for examination.

The investigation is ongoing, according to the KSP.

Reece is charged with three counts of third-degree rape, which are Class-D felonies punishable by one to five years in prison.

Reece was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center. He is being held on a $15,000 cash bond.
