Clark County School District says student brought gun onto bus
WINCHESTER, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Clark County School District sent a message to parents Wednesday, telling them a student brought a concealed weapon onto a school bus that morning.
In the message, Clark County School Superintendent Paul Christy said the student was “immediately taken into custody by local authorities” and that the weapon, a non-functioning gun, never made it to any school.
Christy tells ABC 36 the student was a 6th grader and that he was having family issues at home that made him feel the need to carry a gun.
“Based on the current information, there is no indication that this incident is related to any other event which has transpired in the last 24 hours,” Christy said in the message to parents.
The “other event” is in reference to the shooting deaths of two 16-year-old girls in Winchester Tuesday night.
Four people have been arrested in connection to that shooting.
