Clark Co. Animals Shelter needs supplies after fire

WINCHESTER, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Clark County Animal Shelter is asking for donations after a fire.

Workers believe the fire started Thursday afternoon near the water heater.  They say most of the damage was from smoke in the outer building that houses most of the kennels.

Workers were able to get all the animals out of the building and say all of them are safe, just a few are being monitored because of smoke inhalation but are expected to recover in a few days.

The shelter is asking for:
-Clorox Bleach
-liquid laundry detergent
-towels or blankets

Workers aren’t sure the extent of the damage or how much repairs will coast.  It says the list of supplies could be updated.

Supply donations and monetary donations can be dropped off or mailed to the Clark County Animal Shelter: 5000 Ironworks Road, Winchester, KY 40391.

Donations can also be dropped off at Advanced Turf Equipment located behind Frank’s Donuts, The Williams Agency Insurance Office, and Community Trust Bank of Winchester during their regular operating hours.

“We have a wonderful support system in this community and although we are all exhausted and a little heartbroken, we will move forward and are simply thankful that everyone is safe tonight,” the shelter posted on its Facebook page.
