Church helps pay groceries for several shoppers
LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) – Several shoppers in Lexington walked away with some free groceries, thanks to the generosity of some church members.
The Lexington Herald-Leader (http://bit.ly/21fvTV1 ) reports that members of Perfecting Praise Church contributed $50 toward the grocery bills of six families.
Alisa Tanksley, whose husband, LaRon Tanksley, is the church’s pastor, says church members wanted to spread some cheer during the holiday season. She says the church was formed about three months ago.
Marlene Gilson’s shopping bill came to $426 before the church stepped in to help. She gave hugs to each church member who was present.
Church members who handed out the money didn’t know the specific circumstances of the families they helped. They were just looking for people with loaded carts containing turkeys and other makings of a Thanksgiving meal.
