Church board OK’s same-sex marriages
LAWRENCEBURG, Ky. (WTVQ)- The Anderson News reports at least two deacons at First Christian Church in Lawrenceburg resigned their positions after the church’s board voted last week to allow same-sex marriages to be conducted by its reverends at the church, sources have confirmed.
The Rev. Jim Wheeler, the church’s senior reverend, did not return phone calls to the newspaper to comment on the decision.
Pastors at other area churches said they were aware of the decision and didn’t know of any other churches in Anderson County that currently perform gay marriages.
